Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating material for forming an irregular pattern, prepared by adding a water repellent to a coating material and reduced in the formation of film defects and to provide a process for producing a coated article. SOLUTION: This material is prepared by adding a water repellent (e.g. stearate) having a melting point higher than ordinary temperature and lower than the decomposition temperature of the resin and exhibiting water repellency in a molten state to a coating material. The content of the water repellent used is 0.1-5.0 wt.% based on the solid matter of the coating material. The coated article is produced by coating a substrate with a primer, curing the primer, top-coating the primer layer with the water repellent and drying the wet film by heating to a temperature of the melting temperature or the water repellent or above to the decomposition temperature of the resin.

2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, exterior members such as home appliances, audio equipment, and articles have been manufactured by a method of forming a cold-rolled steel sheet or a plated steel sheet by a manufacturer thereof and coating the same in-house. In recent years, in order to rationalize production, manufacturing companies have purchased a painted metal plate, manufactured exterior members only by molding, and abolished their own painting. Correspondingly,
Material manufacturers also provide various types of coated metal plates, but there is also a demand for providing an exterior member having an uneven pattern.

As a method of forming a concavo-convex pattern on a coating film in a continuous coating line of a metal plate, there are known physical methods such as a method of embossing the coating film and a method of spraying a granular paint on a primer film with a gun. However, the former method has a coating thickness of 10
This is possible only when the thickness is 0 μm or more, and cannot be applied to a coating having a thickness of 30 μm even if the coating film is thick like an exterior member.
Further, the latter method has a drawback that a uniform pattern cannot be obtained and the reproducibility of the pattern is poor.

On the other hand, as a chemical method, a method is known in which a water repellent is added to a paint to cause repellency of the paint film at the same time as the application of the water repellent. Only silicone oil has been put to practical use. However, since silicone oil has a strong water-repellent effect,
When a portion having a high concentration is unevenly distributed, pinholes reaching the metal plate or the undercoating film are locally generated at the portion, and there is a disadvantage that the appearance and corrosion resistance of the coating film are deteriorated.

Since the water repellent is solid at room temperature, it can be dispersed in the paint. Further, even when the coating is applied at room temperature, the water repellent is not melted, so that no uneven pattern is generated on the wet coating film, and the coating film is flat. However, when the wet coating is heated to a temperature higher than the melting temperature of the water repellent during drying, the water repellent is melted, exerts a water repellent action, and repels undried paint existing around the water repellent. . Therefore, an uneven pattern is formed on the wet coating film, and the wet coating film is dried and cured in that state. When an uneven pattern is formed on the wet coating, the wet coating is heated to a temperature higher than the melting temperature of the water repellent,
The fluidity of the coating film is higher than that at room temperature, and an uneven pattern can be formed even if the water repellent action of the water repellent is smaller than that of silicone oil. In addition, the position where the uneven pattern occurs in the continuous coating line is on the entrance side of the drying furnace.

As a water repellent which has a melting temperature higher than room temperature and exerts a water repellent action on a wet coating film after melting, there can be mentioned a stearic acid salt. Inexpensive and safe stearates include Na salt (melting point 288 ° C.) and K salt (35
3 ° C.), Zn salt (140 ° C.), Pb salt (113-1)
14 ° C), Mn salt (105 ° C), Co salt (73-7 °)
5 ° C.), but it is necessary to use one having a melting temperature lower than the decomposition temperature of the coating resin. In addition, since the Pb salt turns yellow when the drying temperature of the coating film is high, it is preferable to avoid using the Pb salt when the coating material is clear, white or pale.

When a stearate is used as a water repellent,
The addition amount is preferably 0.1 to 5.0% by weight of the solid content of the paint. If the added amount is less than 0.1% by weight, creter-like repelling occurs, but the repelling interval is too wide and the distribution is sparse, so that there is no repulsion between the repelling members and the edge is not formed. Does not form a mountain. For this reason, a three-dimensional impression is poor and a beautiful pattern is not obtained. On the other hand, 5.0% by weight
If the number exceeds the threshold value, the repelling becomes excessively dense, and furthermore, the repelling is pressed against each other, so that the irregularities become extremely fine and are not recognized as a pattern.

[0010] In a coated product using this coating, if a coating material containing a water repellent is directly applied to the material to be coated, the corrosion resistance of the coating film to the recesses is inferior. It is preferable to apply the liquid additive-added paint as a top coat. In addition, when the undercoat is applied in advance in this manner, a pattern having different color tone and gloss can be formed between the undercoat and the overcoat, and the patterns can be diversified. In addition, the water-repellent additive paint applied to the material to be coated temporarily decreases its viscosity in a baking drying oven depending on the furnace temperature, and facilitates the formation of an uneven pattern, so that the paint viscosity does not need to be intentionally reduced. , The same as that of a normal paint. The size of the pattern is determined by the amount of the water repellent added and the amount applied. After top coating, the coating is performed at a temperature equal to or higher than the melting temperature of the water repellent and lower than the decomposition temperature of the coating resin.

EXAMPLE A hot-dip galvanized steel strip (0.27 mm) was pretreated by a conventional method in a two-coat two-bake continuous coating line of a roll coating method, and was then primed with a polyester resin. A paint (light brown) is applied to a dry film thickness of 7 μm, and after drying the wet film, a polyester resin top coat containing 0.1 to 0.5% by weight of various stearates is added. (Dark brown, viscosity 350-400 cp) was applied to a dry film thickness of 10 μm and dried. The line speed was 62 m / min, and drying of the top coat was carried out at a maximum temperature of 230 ° C. Table 1 shows the state of the unevenness of the coating film of the coated stearate-added paint and the obtained coated steel sheet.

As described above, in the paint of the present invention, the water repellent imparts repellency to the paint film in a state where the wet coating is heated to a temperature higher than the melting temperature of the water repellent and the paint viscosity becomes low. Therefore, repelling can be provided without using a water-repellent agent having a large water-repellent action such as silicone oil, and pinholes do not occur. In addition, since a water-repellent agent is added to the paint to form an uneven pattern on the coating film, the uneven pattern can be formed even if the coating film thickness is small, and the uniformity and reproducibility of the pattern are stable. .
