- 【特許請求の範囲】 1.光学式読取装置へ挿入することにより、液体における分析物の存在又は量 を決定するための試験条片において、 前縁及び後縁と、 液体を付着するための部分であって、反応帯域を規定する表面を有し、この反応 帯域は、付着された液体に存在する分析物の量の関数として反射率が変化する部 分とを具備し、 該試験条片は、さらに、反応帯域の反射率に関して高反射率の標準帯域を具備し 、該条片が装置へ挿入された時、該反応帯域を導くように、該条片において位置 付けられ、該標準帯域は、少なくとも0.3インチの距離に対して、該反応帯域 から該前縁に向って配され、 これにより、該装置は、条片が装置へ挿入された時の標準帯域の反射率値と、条 片が挿入された後の反応帯域の反射率値とを順次に決定するための光学手段と、 これらの反射率の関数として、液体における分析物の存在又は量を決定するため のマイクロ処理手段とを備えることができる試験条片。 2.該標準帯域が、100mg/dlのグルコースを含有する全血の付着の後 、反応帯域の反射率の少なくとも約4倍の660nm波長の光の反射率を示す請 求の範囲1に記載の試験条片。 3.標準帯域が、装置へ挿入される際に、3.5インチ/秒の速度において、 装置によって少なくとも3回反射率を読取らせるために十分な長さを有する請求 の範囲1に記載の条片。 4.標準帯域が、少なくとも約0.4インチの長さを有する請求の範囲1に記 載の条片。 5.標準帯域が、光学的に可視な反応帯域の幅を少なくとも有する請求の範囲 1に記載の試験条片。 6.該標準帯域が、少なくとも約0.13インチ幅である請求の範囲1に記載 の試験条片。 7.標準帯域が、条片の前縁から反応帯域の前縁にわたるように位置付けられ る請求の範囲1に記載の条片。 8.標準帯域が、条片の前縁の内側の点から反応帯域の前縁にわたるように位 置付けられる請求の範囲1に記載の条片。 9.光学式読取装置へ挿入することにより、液体における分析物の存在又は量 を決定するための試験条片において、 該装置への縦方向挿入に関する横前縁と横後縁を有し、第1及び第2主表面を有 する縦向き支持物と、 第1及び第2主表面を有する試験パッドを含み、該試験パッドの第2主表面を該 支持物の第1主表面と対面関係にして該支持物に添着された多孔性反応物と、 支持物における支持物アパーチュアであり、該アパーチュアを通して試験パッド の第2表面の部分を光学的に露出するように位置付けられ、該部分は反応帯域を 規定する支持物アパーチュアとを具備し、 該支持物の該第2表面は、さらに、該反応帯域に関して高反射率の標準帯域を具 備し、該条片が該装置へ挿入される時、該反応帯域を導くように、該支持物の該 第2表面において位置付けられ、該標準帯域は、少なくとも0.3インチの距離 に対して、該反応帯域から該前縁に向って配され、 これにより、該装置は、条片が装置へ挿入された時の標準帯域の反射率 値と、条片が挿入された後の反応帯域の反射率値とを順次に決定するための光学 手段と、これらの反射率の関数として、液体における分析物の存在又は量を決定 するためのマイクロ処理手段とを備えることができる試験条片。 10.縦向き試験条片の部分に付着された試料における分析物の存在又は量を 決定するための装置であり、該部分は、反応帯域を規定する光学的に可視な表面 を有し、この反応帯域は、付着された液体において存在する分析物の量の関数と して反射率が変化する装置において、 該条片の前縁を該装置へ挿入するための開口と、 該開口から始まり、完全に挿入された後、条片を阻止するための条片阻止手段に おいて終端する条片通路と、 該通路を通った光学アパーチュアであり、これにより、該アパーチュアに重なる 条片の表面の部分は、可視であり、該アパーチュアは、該条片が完全に挿入され た時、該条片の該反応帯域が可視である如く、該通路に沿って位置付けられた光 学アパーチュアと、 該光学アパーチュアと光通信する光学系であり、該光学系は、該条片の該部分へ 光を指向させるための少なくとも一つの光源と、該条片の該部分から反射された 光を指向させるための少なくとも一つの反射率検出器とを具備する光学系と、 条片が通路へ挿入されている時と条片が条片阻止手段に達した後、光学系を制御 するためのマイクロプロセッサーとを具備し、 該マイクロプロセッサーが、反応帯域を導く条片の表面において設けられ、条片 が挿入されている時光学アパーチュアを通して可視な標準帯域の複数の読取りを 、該光源及び検出器に行わせ、校正標準反射率を設け るようにプログラムされており、 該プロセッサーが、条片が挿入された後、反応帯域の反射率を該光源及び該検出 器に読取らせるようにプログラムされており、 該プロセッサーが、該校正標準帯域反射率と反応帯域の反射率の関数として試料 における分析物の量を決定するようにプログラムされており、更に、そのような 量を報告するための手段を具備する装置。 11.試験条片へ付着され、光学読取装置へ挿入された液体における分析物の 存在又は量を決定するための方法において、 該試験条片に液体を付着することを含み、該試験条片は、該付着液体において存 在する分析物の量の関数として、反射率が変化する反応帯域を規定する表面を有 する部分と、ほぼ一定の反射率の標準帯域を具備することと、 該条片が挿入される時、該標準帯域が該反応帯域を導く該条片を、該装置へ挿入 することと、 該条片が挿入される時、該標準帯域の反射率を読取ることと、 該条片が挿入された後、該反応帯域の反射率を読取ることと、 これらの反射率示度の関数として、液体における分析物の存在又は量を決定する こととを含む方法。 12.該標準帯域の該反射率が、複数の示度を取り、分析物の存在又は量を決 定するために使用される示度として、そのような示度の最大値のみを使用するこ とにより、読取られる請求の範囲11に記載の方法。 13.少なくとも3つの示度が、標準帯域から取られる請求の範囲12に記載 の方法。
