Description of the Related Art In recent years, as a large screen and high resolution television receiver, a projection type television receiver using a cathode ray tube has been actively developed. Generally, the spherical aberration can be reduced by increasing the lens diameter. However, in the case of an electrostatic lens, the maximum lens diameter is limited by the inner diameter of the neck portion of the cathode ray tube. Therefore, the magnitude of the spherical aberration in the electrostatic lens is usually determined by the size of the cathode ray tube (the size of the inner diameter of the neck portion). Changes need to be made.

At the time of the welding process when welding to the third grid 18 or the like, minute cracks may occur in the glass cylinder 14 due to thermal energy. If such a crack exists, the crack is elongated by a slight impact or a stress received while the electron gun is inserted into the neck portion, and the connection between the glass cylinder 14 and the metal rings 24a and 24b is disconnected. In this case, a desired potential cannot be supplied to the resistance layer 5 forming the electrostatic lens, and the electron beam cannot be appropriately focused.

It is possible to improve the connection strength between the hollow cylinder and the electrode (grid). In the above configuration, when the temperature decreases in the welding step, the contraction of the cylinder holder is larger than the contraction of the insulating hollow cylinder, so that a compressive stress is applied to the insulating hollow cylinder. This is because glass has a greater compressive strength than a tensile strength, so that the insulating hollow cylinder does not easily crack. Therefore,
Even if it is other than glass, the same effect can be obtained by forming the insulating hollow cylinder using a material having a compressive strength greater than a tensile strength. Here, a member having elastic force, such as a spring, or a member capable of appropriately aligning the electron beam can be used as a support for aligning the electron beam.

As a method of connecting the second and the second 17 to each other, for example, as shown in FIGS. 2 and 3, there is a method of welding through a frit 23. In this case, it is preferable that the transition point of the frit 23 is lower than the transition point of the glass cylinder 14. It is preferable to select the frit 23 so as to be as such. For example, a paste obtained by adding a solvent (vehicle) to a glass powder containing SiO 2 as a main component and sufficiently kneading the mixture into a glass powder is used. The desired amount of application at this time can be easily adjusted by using a dispenser. If this technique is used, the glass cylinder 14 can be prevented from being significantly softened and deformed. By preventing the softening and deformation of the glass cylinder 14 in this way, it is possible to obtain the focusing structure 16 without displacement.

If there is a difference in the coefficient of thermal expansion between the frit 23 and the frit 23, stress is generated in the welded portions 4 and 6. In particular, at a temperature lower than the vicinity of the annealing point of the glass and the frit, when the difference between the thermal expansion coefficients is large, the stress is increased, and the glass and the frit are broken (cracked) and the welding interface is peeled off. Further, the glass cylinder 14 or the frit 23
However, when the thermal expansion coefficient is larger than that of the cylinder holders 12 and 17, the glass or the frit is subjected to tension when the temperature is lowered in the welding step or the like, so that the glass or the frit is likely to be broken (cracked).

However, in reality, the materials of the cylinder holders 12 and 17, the glass cylinder 14, and the frit 23 vary, and it is necessary to accurately match the thermal expansions due to the processing distortion of the cylinder holders 12 and 17. It is difficult.

The outer surface with the frit 23 is surrounded. With this configuration, even when compressive stress is applied to the glass cylinder 14 and the frit 23 due to the contraction of the cylinder holders 12 and 17 at the time of temperature decrease, the glass cylinder 14 and the frit 23 are easily applied to the glass cylinder 14 and the frit 23. No cracks occur. This is because the glass cylinder 14 and the frit 23 (so-called glass) have a property that the compressive strength is much larger when the compressive strength is compared with the tensile strength. Therefore, according to the present embodiment, the glass cylinder 14 and the cylinder holders 12, 1
7 can be kept strong.

With such a configuration, the surfaces of the cylinder holders 12 and 17 become porous, so that the glass cylinder 14 and the cylinder holders 12 and 17 can be more strongly coupled by the anchor effect. Furthermore, a diffusion layer of the oxide is formed in the glass, which can strongly bind both the metal and the glass. However, if the oxide film layer is too thick, the bonding strength with the metal interface will be low.
Preferably, the oxidation treatment is performed for 20 minutes to 20 minutes.

No. One example is a laser welding method. Usually, at the welding spot 21, the metal is melted at a high temperature exceeding 1000 ° C., and in the vicinity thereof, the temperature rises due to heat diffusion from the welding spot 21, so that local thermal stress is generated. In order to cope with this, the distance between the welding spot 21 and the welded portions 4 and 6 is increased, or the cylinder holder 1
It is conceivable to increase the thickness of the plates 2 and 17. By doing so, the temperature of the glass cylinder 14 and the frit 23 at the welded portions 4 and 6 can be prevented from reaching the annealing point, so that the occurrence of local thermal stress can be prevented, and the glass cylinder 14 and the frit can be prevented. 23 can be prevented from cracking. For example, it is preferable that the distance between the welded portions 4 and 6 and the welding spot 21 is 1 mm or more. The plate thickness of the cylinder holders 12, 17 is preferably 1 mm or more, for example, about 1 to 2 mm. Since the cylinder holders 12 and 17 are cylindrical as shown in FIGS. 2 and 3, the welding spot 21 and the welding portions 4 and
6 can be easily separated. Therefore, as shown in FIG. 2 and FIG.
By forming 7, it is possible to easily suppress deterioration of the welding strength due to thermal energy generated during welding.
