Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable stable orientation to be obtained voluminously and enable passivation effect for diffusion impurities from electrode substrates to be provided by using total aromatic polymers having hetero rings and metal oxides as orientation controlling agents.
CONSTITUTION: The mixed solution of an organic amine solution of a total aromatic prepolymer having hetero rings, e.g., polyimide base prepolymer and an alcohol solution of an organic metal compound, e.g., tetra methoxysilane is coated on the mating surface of two sheets of electrode substrates, at least one whereof is transparent. After the coating is heat-treated at about 300 to 400°C, it is rubbed with cotton or the like. The mixed solution of 5 to 40wt% of the organic prepolymer and 60 to 95wt% of the organic metal compound is optimum. Equally good results will be obtained even if the metal oxide thin film is first provided on the electrode substrates, then the total aromatic prepolymer thin film having hetero rings is provided and is then rubbed. Thereby, high temperature durability may be obtained.
