Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce non-baked pelletized ore with a sufficient strength for pig making material through steam treatment of powdery iron material which has been pelletized being kneaded with addition of binder such as Portland cement and water and then dried.
CONSTITUTION: A powdered iron ore is mixed in a mixing drum 6 with Portland cement or cement clinker and slag after they are all carried on a belt conveyor 5 from respective silos 1, 2, 3 and 4 at a rate of 3 to 10% by weight in total and charged into the tank. Then, the mixture is transferred to a pelletizer 8 by a conveyor 7, where it is formed into pellets with addition of moderate amount of water from a water feeder. Subsequently, after being dried by a bottle 10 for a given time, the pellets are transferred to a device 11 for steam treatment and sent to a drying device 12. The non-baked pellets thus produced are transferred into a pellet storage 14 by a conveyor 13, from which they are charged into blast furnaces by a conveyor.
