Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce oxidation loss and to make the pitch of a coil closer so as to enhance heating temperature by coating a heater element with a metal oxide layer which is sealed.
CONSTITUTION: An electrc heater element 1 made of Fe-Cr alloy is coated with a metal oxide layer 2 which is stable at high temperatures, such as ZrO2 stabilized with yttria. The thus coated element is coated with heat-resistant sealing insulator 3 such as a silicate, and wound into a coil or spirally to form a heater member.
