Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:4-(5-Fluoromethyl-2-pyridyloxy)phenoxyalkanecarboxylic acid derivatives of formula I (X is f, Cl Y is H, Cl; R is H, methyl; n is 0,2; Z1 is hydroxyl, 2 - 6C alkoxy, 2 - 4C alkenyloxy, 2 - 4C alkynyloxy, 3 - 6C cycloalkoxy).
EXAMPLE: α-[4-(5-trifluoromethyl-2-pyridyloxy)phenoxy]-propionic ethyl ester.
USE: Herbicide for agriculture and floriculture. It is used to kill Gramineae plants by treating their leaves and stems but safe to wide leaf plants and trees.
PREPARATION: The condensation between 2-halo-5-fluoromethylpyridine of formula II (Hal is halogen) and a substituted phenol of formula III (Q is hydroxyl and so on, Z4 is hydroxyl and so on) is conducted in the presence of an alkaline substance to prepare the compound of formula I.
