Abstract

PURPOSE: To maintain the quality of cooling water and improve slag separating and conveying efficiency by accumulating granulated slag from a granulated slag treating vessel into a storage hopper to filtration remove water using the slag itself as a filter medium and by feeding the filtrate water for cooling molten slag to capture fine slag well.
CONSTITUTION: Molten slag 1 is mixed with cooling water 14 in slag channel 2 and charged into granulated slag treating vessel 1 in the form of granules. Most of the granulated slag is conveyed out of vessel 15 with bucket conveyor 18 reaching the bottom of slant 16 and discharged into storage hopper 19. On the other hand, fine slag flowing through vessel 15 toward waterway 28 is interrupted with filter wire netting 20, precipitatd, drawn up with sand pumps 23, 24, and discharged into hopper 19 through pipes 25, 26. Water obtd. by filtration using the accumulated slag in hopper 19 as a filter medium is returned to vessel 15 through pipe 38. Water in waterway 28 is fed to pipe 29 and pit 30, and supplied as cooling water 14 to channel 2 with pump 32.
