Abstract

CONSTITUTION: When an instruction for shifting to the power generating operation is applied during the phase matching operation of a water wheel generator, the push-down of the water level is stopped and the exhaust of air from a draft is is started. At that time, the opening of an inlet valve is also started. When the exhaust is completed and the inlet valve is opened above a prescribed degree, the opening of a guide vane is started to carry a load. Said prescribed degree is a minimum value for picking out a water wheel output. For example, the prescribed degree is set at 50% of the value for full opening. The phase matching operation can thus be shifted to the power generating operation at a higher speed than by conventional methods. This enables the power plant to quickly follow up the fluctuation in the load.
