Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare a porous polyolefin sheet having small pore diameters and increased water permeability and drawable without breaking, by mixing a polyolefin with an inorganic filler and an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer or its saponified derivative.
CONSTITUTION: A polyolefin (A) compounded with (B) an inorganic filler which can be eluted with an acid, an alkali or water, and (C) an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer or its saponified derivative, is molded into a sheet, drawn and eluted with an acid, an alkali or water to give a porous polyolefin sheet, e.g. having a porosity of 60W90%, a maximum through-pore opening of ≤10μ and a water permeability of ≥5.0ml/cm2.min.atm.
