Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the hydrophilic nature of a melt molded article of a hydrophobic thermoplastic resin and a saponified ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer, by bringing the molded article into contact with a surfactant, and removing the saponified copolymer partially from the molded article.
CONSTITUTION: 99W60pts.wt. hydrophobic thermoplastic resin is mixed with 1W 40pts.wt. saponified ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer with an ethylenic content of 15W55mol% and a saponification degree of 30W90mol% of the vinyl acetate part, and the resultant mixture is melt molded. The molded article is then brought into contact with an aqueous solution of a surfactant, preferably an anionic surfactant, to remove the saponified copolymer partially from the molded article. A saponified copolymer containing 10W500ppm, preferably 30W500ppm, as sodium, sodium salt is used as the saponified ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer to further improve the hydrophilic nature.
