USE: Intermediate for synthesizing adamantane derivatives useful as medicines.
PREPARATION: The reaction between 1-adamantanol of formula II and halogenosulfonyl isocyanate (XSO2NCO) is conducted in a solvent such as anhydrous ether or benzene at -10W10°C, preferably 0W5°C for 3W6hr to form the compound of formulaI, wherein the amount of the halogenosulfonyl isocyanate added is 0.9W1.2, preferably 1mol per 1mol of 1-adamantanol.
