Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain the pipe having high precision of dimensions, by inserting the core jig having large coefficient of thermal expansion into the polygonal pipe and controlling the dimensions and shape of the polygonal pipe at the heat treatment utilizing the difference of the coefficient of thermal expansion of both materials at the production of the polygonal pipe made of metal. CONSTITUTION:The core jig 2 made of the material having larger coefficient of thermal expansion than the polygonal pipe 2 to be heat-treated, is inserted into the polygonal pipe 1. The size of outer width of the corner part of the core jig 2 is made to have the finishing size at the time of high temperature of the polygonal pipe 1 at the time of high temperature of the heat treatment. By enlarging and restraining the corner part of the polygonal pipe 1 to be heat-treated to the finishing size at the high temperature with the corner part of the core jig 2 at the heat treatment and keeping this state for a long period of time, the polygonal pipe 1 to be heat-treated is finished to the prescribed dimensions with good precision. Besides, the pins 3 are made to penetrate through the holes provided at the neighborhood of both end parts of the polygonal pipe and are screwed to the core jig 2. With the combination of the tensile force in the circumferential directions by means of the pins 3, the polygonal pipe 1 can be restrained and annealed effectively.
