Abstract
PURPOSE:To enhance the desulfurization efficiency of a CaC2 type desulfurizing agent by mixing the agent with dust from a CaC2 producing electric furnace as a desulfurization accelerator. CONSTITUTION:A CaC2 type hot iron desulfurizing agent, e.g. CaC2 powder optionally mixed with powder of alkali metal carbonates such as CaCO3 and MgCO3 is mixed with dust from a CaC2 producing electric furnace as a desulfurization accelerator. The dust is collected fine powder based on CaO and contg. SiO2, Al2O3, Fe2O3, coke breeze, etc. 5-70% of the dust is mixed with CaC2 and melted at the time of tapping, and the mixt. is finely pul verized to obtain the agent. By mixing the dust of the above compsn. the CaC2 content can be reduced, the yield of the CaC2 as the desulfurizing agent is enhanced, and desulfurization cost is reduced. In addn., the CaC2 is not left in slag, mini mizing the amt. of C2H2 generated from the slag.
