Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve the adhesive force of metal-metal composite material, etc. at elevated temperatures, by using an adhesive comprising (A) an ethylene vinyl- acetate copolymer having specific vinyl acetate content and melt index and (B) a crosslinked polymer obtained from a silane compound and a radical initiator.
CONSTITUTION: 0.5W3 phr of a silane compound, e.g. vinyltrimethoxy silane, etc. and 0.05W0.3 phr of a radical initiator are added to an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer having a vinyl acetate content of 10W30wt.% and a melt index of 1W6 g/min at 190°C. The mixture is heated to form a silane graft copolymer, which is brought into contact with moisture and crosslinked by the use of a condensation catalyst, e.g. dibutyltin dioctoate, etc. A metal-metal, metal-plastic composite materials, etc. can be obtained using the adhesive thus obtained. The peel strength at elevated temperature, e.g. 80°C can be increased to about 20 times that of the convertional composite materials
