Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide a composite polymer compsb, which is suitable as a raw material for an adhesive and in which polymer are intimately mixed with each other, by polymerizing a monomer composed mainly of a (meth)acrylate ester in the presence of a butyl elastomer and an org. peroxide.
CONSTITUTION: A monoer (B) composed mainly of a (meth)acrylate ester is mixed with a butyl elastomer such as polyisobutylene or tutyl rubber or a mixture of said butyl elastomer and an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer (A). To the resulting mixture is added on org. peroxide such as binzoyl peroxide. While kneading the mixture, the temperature is raised to effect a reaction between reactants. By this reaction, the molecule of component. A undergoes free-radical fission by the org. peroxide to produce a polymer-terminated radical. Component B is polymerized to produce a polymer-gowing radical. Then the desired composite compsn. is formed in which polymers are intimately mixed with each other by an intermolecular reaction.
