Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain film surfaces having improved surface hardness, solvent, acid, and alkali resistance, and smoothness, by reducing the organic solvent content in a film, and by irradiating the film immersed in a liquid with light.
CONSTITUTION: A photo-setting resin composition diluted with an organic solvent is applied to a substrate, preferably a plastic film, which is passed through a heating zone to reduce the organic solvent content in the uncured coating film to 15% or less. The film is then immersed in a liquid, e.g. water, and irradiated with light. The addition of 30wt.% or more of a high-viscosity compound, e.g. urethane acrylate, etc. to the resin composition shows a remarkable effect
