Abstract

PURPOSE: To achieve higher speed of automatic range changeover by performing analog judgement then digital judgement through the utilization of the time when an A/D conversion circuit does not contribute to sampling of input.
CONSTITUTION: The output of an attenuator 1 passes through a full-wave rectifier 10 and is judged by an upper limit value detection circuit 11 and a lower limit value detection circuit 12. Depending upon the results of the judgement, a reversible counter circuit 7 is counted up or down, by which the attenuator 1 is changed over via control circuit 8. At this time, counting of the circuit 7 is inhibited by AND circuits 15, 16 during measurement voltage sampling period. In this way, the range close to an optimum one is beforehand set. Next, the output of the attenuator 1 performs digital judgement through an A/D converter 2, result judgement circuit 3 and the attenuator 1 is changed over by the circuit 7, 8.
