Abstract

PURPOSE: To suppress the generation of NOx, by compounding the raw materials to be sintered in a specified order, improving the contact between coke and limestone and covering the surroundings of coke with a reducing atmosphere at the sintering, when the sintered ore is produced from powdery iron ore.
CONSTITUTION: By adding a binder to coke, limestone and water as the raw materials for the sintered ore, mixing preliminarily and granulating the mixture, the degree of contact between coke and limestone is increased. After that, the raw mateirals of iron source such as powdery iron ore, etc. are mixed to the above granular mixture with water. Or, when the powdery ore, etc. is mixed to the above preliminary mixture, by adding furterh the binder, the degree of contact between coke and limistone is made dense. CO2 generated owing to the thermal decomposition of limestone is converted to CO gas by being reduced with red-hot coke and NOx generated owing to the oxidation of N2 in air being contained in the pores of coke during the sintering is reduced to harmless N2 with CO. With this method, the content of NOx in the exhaust gas from the sintering equipment is decreased
