Abstract

PURPOSE: To suppress effectively the content of NOx in the exhaust gas, by compounding the raw materials to be sintered in a specified order, improving the contact between coke and limestone and covering the surroundings of coke with a reducing atmosphere at the sintering, when the powdery iron ore is sintered.
CONSTITUTION: The powder coke and limestone in the raw materials to be sintered are granulated by being kneaded together with water. Then, after this granular product and the raw materials of iron source, such as powdery iron ore, return fines, etc. have been keaded with water, the sintered ore is produced by sintering. According to the above compounding, the degree of contact between coke and limestone is enhanced and CO2 generated owing to the thermal decomposition of limestone, is reduced to CO with red-hot coke. In this way, the surroundings of coke is covered with a reducing atmosphere of of CO and NOx generated during the sintering is reuced to harmless N2 with CO.
