Abstract
PURPOSE: To facilitate production by passing a metal wire in the through hole formed at one end of each metal bar to suspend plural metal bars, forming a high specific modulus material on the surfaces of the metal bars and metal wires through vapor deposition, etching away the metal bars and metal wires and mounting stylus tips in the through-holes.
CONSTITUTION: A metal bar is press-molded with two dies to alternately form large diameter parts 1a and small diameter parts 1b at a specified spacing. Through-holes 5 for insertion of stylus tips are opened near the small diameter parts 1b and the metal bar is cut at the large diameter parts 1a and small diameter parts 1b to be separated to a plurality. Metal wires 6 are passed through the through-holes 5 to suspend the plural metal bars 1 and a layer 9 of a high specific modulus material is formed on the surfaces of the metal bars 1 and metla wires 6 through chemical vapor deposition. Next, the metal bars 1 and metal wires 6 are removed by performing etching in that state and the plural tubular high specific modulus material layers 9 are taken out in the state being connected with connection parts 10, after which the connection parts 10 are removed by lapping, etc., whereby the cantilever bases composed of the tubular high specific modulus material layers are produced. Stylus tips 12 are inserted into the insertion holes 11 after the through-holes 5 of these bases to complete the cantilevers
