Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the heating cycle of an air conditioner, by fitting a by-pass pipe equipped with a solenoid valve between the high and low pressure sides of the piping.
CONSTITUTION: A conventional air conditioner, composed of a compressor 1, 4-way valve 2, outdoor heat exchanger 3, indoor heat exchanger 4, reducer 5, 6, check valves 7, 8, accumulator 9, outdoor fan 10, indoor fan 11, is equipped with a by- pass pipe 12 having a solenoid valve 13 and timer between the high and low pressure sides. During heating operation, the solenoid valve 13 is periodically opened to by-pass part of hot and high pressure gaseous refrigerant discharged from the compressor 1 to the inlet of the outdoor heat exchanger by means of the by- pass pipe 12, which can improve the heating cycle of the machine.
