PURPOSE:To accomplish a steam type humidification with a high efficiency while enabling a highly economical operation by eliminating separate heat source such as electric heater as in the past. CONSTITUTION:A compressor 9 is connected in sequence with a piping to a fourway valve 10, an outdoor heat exchanger 11, the first and second reducing expansion valves 12 and 13 and an indoor heat exchanger 5 to form a heat pump type refrigeration cycle, and the inflow said of the indoor exchanger 5 is communicated to the outflow side thereof through a bypass pipe 15. In the course of the bypass pipe 15, interposed are a humidifying heat exchanger 8 to be arranged in a humidifying tray 7 and a solenoid valve 17 in such a manner that the valve 17 is opened when the temperature and humidity in the room is below the given level and closed when it reaches the level. In addition, when the solenoid valve 17 is opened, a part of gas discharged from the compressor 9 is delivered to the humidifying heat exchanger 8 so that hot water is evaporated in the hot air from the indoor heat exchanger 5.
