Abstract

PURPOSE: The surface of plywood is coated with an adhesive and a specific granular base material is applied thereon, pressed with rolls and dried to produce decorative sheets with high flame retardancy and water resistance.
CONSTITUTION: (A) Calcium carbonate and bentonite, (B) a binder such as an acrylic ester copolymer, (C) other mineral powders such as powdery gypsum, a colorant such as dye or pigment and a lubricant such as surfactant are mixed and they are kneaded with water and granulated by a granulator and dried to prepare the objective base material. The amount of component B is preferably in the range from 0.2 to 10% and component C from 0.1 to 5%. The binder as component B is other than polyvinlyl alcohol
