Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare a granular fire resistant material having high weatherability and aging resistance, and capable of imparting flame retardancy to synthetic resin foam, by compounding and granulating sodium metaborate, borax and inorganic powder.
CONSTITUTION: Sodium metaborate is mixed with borax and granulated to a proper size. The mixture may contain a binder such as CMC, PVA, etc. The granules may be covered with powdery inorganic material such as gypsum, kaolinite, etc., or coated with a resin to a thickness of about 10W30μ.
