Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide an end plate construction for the rotor of a centrifugal separator which is sufficiently safe with a thin casing even if the end plate is broken.
CONSTITUTION: Upper and lower end plates 3 and 4 are attached to a rotor 5. A bearing 2 is attached to the upper end plate 3, and a lower bearing 8 is attached to the lower end plate 4 through a lower shaft 6 such that they are rotatably supported. A stator 7 of an electric motor is mounted in a casing 1, and the rotor 11 of the same is mounted in the lower end plate so that the rotor 5 can be turned. The end plates are made such that the inner circumferential thickness t is made larger than the outermost circumferential thickness d' to increase the cross-sectional collision area upon breakage of the end plates so that the required thickness of the casing can be reduced.
