Abstract

PURPOSE: A coating liquid containing microcapsules that is controlled in viscosity and surface tension is coated through a hopper type of coater on webs to produce microcapsule-coated sheets with reduced fluctuation in web quality and excellent surface quality.
CONSTITUTION: A coating liquid containing microcapsules that is previously controlled in viscosity to 2-300 centipoise and in surface tension to 20-50 dyne/cm is supplied from tank 2 through metering pump 3, head 4 to bead 8 where the coating liquid is applied onto continuously running web 5. The amount of coating liquid picked up by web is detrmined by the supplied amount of coating liquid 1 to bead 8 and the running speed of web 5. The rusulting web 5 with coated layer 9 is dried by sending it to drying process and wound up, then cut into desired lengths depending upon uses.
