Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable an uniform coating of a desired amount of a coating liquid, having a constant component, on a whole coating surface, and to obtain a subject sheet which has a steady quality, and a desired coloring property, by a method wherein a heat-sensitive coloring layer liquid is applied on a beltlike support matter continuously running by means of a gravure roll. CONSTITUTION:A heat-sensitive coloring layer liquid 1, containing a coloring agent, which creats a coloring reaction by heating, a developer, and a binder, is fed automatically from a coating liquid tank 8 to a liquid feed pan 2 so that a liquid is always positioned constant. Said coloring liquid is drawn up by means of a gravure roll which rotates in an opposite direction to an advancing direction of a web 6 running continuously, and an excessive liquid, weighed by means of a doctor blade 4, is fed back to the liquid feed pan 2. The heat-sensitive coloring layer liquid 1, weighed within a pattern of the gravure roll 3, is uniformly coated on a web 6 which is brought into press contact with the gravure roll 3 by means of a press roll 5 to form a heat-sensitive coloring layer, and thus, a desired sheet can be obtained.
