Abstract

PURPOSE: To form a sharp copy image without requiring fixing heaters, an electric field, etc., by developing a static latent image by electrostatic induction of the image using a magnetic fluid and fixing it by molecular attraction.
CONSTITUTION: A static latent image is developed with a magnetic fluid (ferrofluid), a colloid solution of about 100 Å fine magnetic particles. Static latent image 6 formed by optical system 5 on photosensitive drum 4 rotating in the direction of an arrow passes in contact to the surface of rotary permanent magnet 10 the part of which is dipped in magnetic fluid 8 and to the surface of which a constant amount of fluid 8 is attached, and fluid 8, in turn, is attached to the surface of drum 4 by attraction of image 6 to form visible image 11. Subsequently, this image 11 is transferred to transfer paper 13 in transferring station 12 only by pressing and at the same time it is fixed.
