Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide the title composition of good steam resistance, adherence, and low-temperature curability, comprising a specific polybutadiene-modified acrylic resin and an amino resin (and an epoxy resin, if necessary).
CONSTITUTION: The objective composition comprising (1) 95W80 wt.% of a polybutadiene-modified acrylic resin and (2) 5W20 wt.% of an amino resin obtained, e.g. from melamine and an aldebyde, or the same amount of a mixture of an amino resin with an epoxy resin. Said acrylic resin can be prepared by incorporating (A) 30W70 wt.% of 1.4-cis-polybutadiene having a weight-average molecular weight of approximately 500W5000 with (B) 5-20 wt.% of a hydroxyalkyl (meth) acrylate, (C) 0W10 wt.% of an α, β-monoetbylenic unsaturated carboxylic acid, and (D) a copolymerizable unsaturated monomer such as methyl acrylate in an amount so that the total of the ingredients accounts for 100 wt.%, then carrying out graft polymerization.
