Abstract

PURPOSE: To exactly detect whether sheets are accurately placed or not upon carrying of the sheets at the position to carry the sheets and to apply the detection to sheets of various kinds.
CONSTITUTION: Sheet position detecting means 17 for detecting whether sheets corresponding to the size of sheet tray are accurately placed on the tray or not consists of sheet position detecting sensor 18, and a detection display circuit 19 for operating upon reception of output signal from the sensor 18. The sensor 18 consists of a light source 20, and a photoelectric converter 21. The surface of the lowermost sheet of the set sheets is utilized as a light reflecting surface. When a light from the source 20 is reflected into the converter 21, the detected output from the converter 21 is applied to the display circuit 19. That is, only when the sheets move to the inner surfaces of front and side plates 15 and 16 forming the standard position of the sheets 14, a hole is closed to allow the sensor 18 to detect the sheets to product detection output.
