Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain the title high-purity compound efficiently and easily, by the purification of the electrolyte containing dimethyl sebacate, which is obtained by the electrolytic condensation of monomethyl adipate, using amphoteric ion-exchange resins.
CONSTITUTION: An electrolyte containing dimethyl sebacate is obtained by the electrolytic ondensation of monomethyl adipate. A part of the electrolyte is led into the distillation column 3 to remove methanol. The residue is led into the top of the ion- exchange tower 4 containing amphoteric ion-exchange resins which can reduce the methanol in the electrolyte to the concentration of ≤ 5%, and monomethyl adipate and alkali metal ions are adsorbed to the resins. The substances adsorbed are recovered with the methanol from the distillation column 3, and the methanol solution is circulated into the electrolyte tank 1. The high-purity objective compound can be obtained from the bottom of the ion-exchange tower 4.
EFFECT: Recycling of methanol removed from the electrolyte can avoid the necessity additional water or organic solvent for the reaction.
