Abstract

PURPOSE: To facilitate handling, in a mass spectrograph intended to accelerate ions generated in ionization chamber with the potential difference, by disposing a lens to correct deviation of object point caused due to change in the accelerating voltage in the ion optical system and correcting purely electrically.
CONSTITUTION: The sample gas introduced into an ionization chamber 1 is ionized by the acceleration caused by an electron target 3 emitted from a filament 2, and is led out by a lens electrode 4 to be simultaneously converged. The ions at Va potential in the ionization chamber are accelerated by the potential difference of Va+Vr at a cathode 5, and are decelerated at a next earth electrode 6, then accelerated by the energy of Va to enter a magnetic field 10. Between this ion source and the magnetic field 10 are disposed Q lens 11 having power source 13 and a megnetic field 12. When the position of object point Po located at the position of the cathode 5 is moved to the position of Po' due to the acceleration by virtue of the earth electrode 6, the voltage of the Q lens power source 13 is changed, and the value of Q lens 11 is changed accordingly, so that the deviation of the position of the object point may be corrected.
