Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve efficiency of filtering operation, by calculating the amount of turbid matters deposited in a filtering basin through measurement of turbidity of original untreated water and the amount of water that has been filtered, and starting cleaning of the filtering basin when the amount of turbid matters thus calculated has reached a predetermined value.
CONSTITUTION: Supernatant water in settling basin 1 is introduced into filtering basin 4 through turbidity meter 2 and valve 3. In the filtering basin 4, supernatant water is filtered by filter bed 5 and then carried to cleaning basin 10 through discharge valve 7, cleaning valve 8 and flow meter 9. Amount of turbid matters deposited on the filter bed 5 is calculated by processing signals from flow meter 9 and turbidity meter 2 in operator 13 and ratio setting relay 14 and is integrated at preset counter 15. When the amount of turbid matters thus calculated has reached a predetermined value, an instruction for starting cleaning of filtering basin is given. Cleaning of filtering basin is carried out by driving surface-wash pump 11 and backwash pump 12, with valves 3, 8 being closed, and water used in cleaning is discharged to waste water basin 6.
