Abstract

PURPOSE: To discriminate a pulse position in a short time with high precision by making use of a digital circuit of simple constitution for the discrimination of a position of the highest probability on the time axis of a received pulse in a communication field where a noise source resides.
CONSTITUTION: Sample holding circuit 1 is provided which discriminates the digital value of input signal (b) by receiving repetitive reference signal (a), and series shift register 2 is also provided which receives the output of circuit 1 and stores the digital value of a single pulse. In addition, reversible counter 3 is equipped which varies its contents corresponding to the states of the 1st and last output values of this register 2. Further, comparator circuit 4 is provided which discriminates the definition that a single pulse exists by extracting the maximum value from the output of counter 3, and results of circuit 4 are stored in register 5. Then, counter 6 counting reference signal (a) and register 8 stored with the output of counter 6 at every time when output signal (i) of circuit 4 is outputted are both provided, so that the position on a reference signal where a single pulse exists will be discriminated by reading out the output of counter 8.
