Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide a novel perfume or fragrant composition containing a specific ester as an effective component.
CONSTITUTION: A perfume composed of a base and an effective (fragrant) component comprising a β-alkoxy-isobutyric acid ester of formula I (R1 is ≤5C alkyl; R2 is ≤10C alkyl, alkenyl, alkadienyl, cycloalkyl, aryl, aralkyl). The compound I is prepared, e.g. by the reaction II using alkali metal alkoxide as a catalyst. It is added to, e.g. soap, detergent, room deodorant, hair shampoo, cosmetic, feed, beverage, plastic, printing ink, fiber, textile, etc.
