NEW MATERIAL:A 6-substituted indoloisoquinoline derivative of formula I: (R1 and R4 are the same or different H, halogen, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, or nitro groups; R3 is lower alkyl, cycloalkyl alkyl group; R2 is lower alkyl, lower alkenyl, lower haloalkyl group, etc.) and its salt.
EXAMPLE: Medicines having a powerful oncostatic action.
PROCESS: A compound of formula II is subjected to ring closure in the absence or presence of a solvent under heating to form a compound of formula III, which is reacted with a reactive ester of a compound of formula IV in the presence of a basic condensing agent, e.g. an alkali metal alkoxide or amide, to give the indoloisoquinoline derivative of formula I.
