Abstract
PURPOSE: To stabilize the condition of a direct iron making reduction furnace by covering the surface of direct iron making raw materials with MgO, CaO, carbon powder, etc. to prevent occurence of clustering in the furnace.
CONSTITUTION: Direct iron making raw materials 3 are dropped onto endless band drier 1 from hopper 2 and coveyed. The surface of materials 3 is sprayed with a suspension, light oil, heavy oil, etc. each contg. Ca(OH)2, Mg(OH)2, carbon powder, etc. from spray nozzle 4. Hot air is fed to hood 8 above materials 3 from hot air blast pipe 7 to dry the materials at 150W500°C. Thus, a film of 0.05W2% CaO, MgO or carbon substance is formed on each surface of the raw granules, and the film prevents occurence of clustering by which the granules are sticked to each other in a direct reduction furnace. Accordingly, irregular dropping of raw materials is prevented causing unstable condition of the furnace and lowering of productivity.
