Abstract
PURPOSE: To reduce the power consumption of a fluorescent lamp by filling mixture rare gas of argon, at least one of rare gases of larger atomic weight, and at least one of rare gases of smaller atomic weight into a linear type fluorescent lamp bulb.
CONSTITUTION: The tube outer diameter d of a fluorescent lamp bulb 1 is formed to be 27 to 31mm. Sealed rare gas consists of argon, at least one of rare gases of larger atomic weight than that of the argon, and at least one of rare gases of smaller atomic weight than that of the argon with sealing gas pressure being 1.5 to 2.5 mmHg. When the outer diameter d of the bulb 1 exceeds 31mm, the tube current becomes larger due to low sealed gas impedance. As the ratio of the rare gas of larger atomic weight than the argon is increased in the sealed gas and the ratio of the rare gas of smaller atomic weight than the argon is decreased, the tube power is decreased, but the tube current is increased to need larger stabilizer and to lower the brightness.
