Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:A cephalosporin analog of formula I (X is amino, azido, or phthalylimino group; R1 is H, halogen, OH, lower alkoxy group, etc.; R2 is the same as R1, lower alkyl or azido group, etc.; R3 is H, alkyl, aryl, aralkyl group, etc.), and its salt.
EXAMPLE: (±)cis,2-tert-Butyloxycarbonyl-7-azido-1-azabicyclo[ 4,2,0 ]oct-2-en-8- one.
USE: An intermediate for the synthesis of carbacephalosporin having the cephalosporin analog skeleton.
PROCESS: A compound of formula II (R21 is H or lower alkyl group) is reacted with a compound of formula III (R31 is alkyl, aryl group, etc.) to give the compound of formula IV, which is reacted with an active derivative of the formula X1CH2COOH (X1 is azido or phthalylimino group), and oxidized with ozone, etc. to form a compound of formula V. The resulting compound is subjected to the Horner-Wittig reaction to afford the compound of formula I (X is X1; R1 is H; R2 is R21; R3 is R31).
