Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:Cephalosporin analogs of formula I (X is amino, azide, phthalimino, R1 is H, halogen, hydroxyl, lower alkoxy; R2 is R1 or lower alkyl, halogen- substituted lower alkyl; R3 is H, alkyl, aryl) or their salts.
EXAMPLE: (±)cis,2-t-Butyloxycarbonyl-7-azide-1-azabicyclo[4,2,0]oct-2-en-8-one.
USE: Synthetic intermediates of antibiotic.
PREPARATION: For example, the reaction of a compound of formula II (R21 is H, lower alkyl) with another compound of formula III (R31 is alkyl, aryl, aralkyl) gives the compound of formula IV. The product is made to react with a compound of formula V (X1 is N3, phthalimino) and the product is subjected to oxidation and cyclization to give the compound of formula I (X=X1; R2=R21; R3=R31). When needed, the product is halogenated and converted into the desired compound of formula I.
