Molecular formula: C20H41N5O9. Solubility: Reading soluble in water, soluble in methanol; insoluble in chloroform and benzene. Color reactions: Positive to ninhydrin; negative to Elson-Morgan's procedure.
USE: Antibacterials effective against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including drug-resistance ones.
PROCESS: Bacterium bodies of Micromonospora sagamiensis (FERM-P No.3573) or treated ones are reacted with antibiotic JI-20B, and the substance TPJ-B is collected from the culture or the reaction liquid. The substance TPJ-B is assumed as an epimer of antibiotic JI-20B.
