H2O, C 40.60%, H 6.81%, N 10.52%; molecular weight: 248; molecular formula: C9N16N2O6; color reaction; ninhydrin and ferric chloride reactions are positive; etc.
USE: Antibiotics. Effective particularly against Gram-negative bacteria including resistant bacteria against known antibiotics).
PROCESS: Malioxamycin-producing bacteria belonging to the Streptomyces genus, Streptomyces lydicus No.15748 (FERM-P No.4481), are cultured, and malioxamycin is isolated and produced from the cultured substance.
