Abstract

PURPOSE:To raise the charging efficiency of another cylinder of a multicylinder internal combustion engine and increase its total output, by providing a control valve in an intake passage, closing the valve in the deceleration of the engine and compensating the degree of opening of the valve depending on the rotational frequency of the engine. CONSTITUTION:Throttle valves 7, 8 are provided in intake passages 4, 6 for cylinders 1, 2. The control valve 9 is provided in only the intake passage 4 under a communication hole 10 for both the intake passages 4, 6. The valve 9 is connected to a moving diaphragm unit 12 through levers 11, 13. The negative pressure chamber 12d of the diaphragm unit 12 is connected to the negative pressure chamber 16c of a controller 16, to which the intake negative pressure is transmitted through a negative pressure pipe 17. When the engine is decelerated, the control valve 9 is closed by the negative pressure transmitted through the pipe 17 and the negative pressure chambers 16c, 12d. Pressurized air is conducted from an air pump 18 into the negative pressure chamber 16c to change the degree of opening of the valve 9 in the range from a low speed to a high one.
