Abstract

PURPOSE: To facilitate the easy separation for each primary color in the charge transfer pickup device, by providing the color stripe filter to each picture element along with installation of the light cut-off region among the filters.
CONSTITUTION: Insulating film 12 is provided on n-type semiconductor substrate 11, and stripe-type electrodes 131, 132... are distributed over film 12. These electrodes are connected in common with every three units and then connected to voltage application terminals 141, 142 and 143 each. Thus adjacent three units of the electrode part form one picture element. Color stripe filters 15 are provided on the electrodes, and one component of each filter covers over three electrodes. The low levels are given to terminals 141 and 143; while the high level is secured for terminal 142 respectively. As a result, the primary color signal stored under the electrode of terminal 142 gives the sequential change to the voltage applied to terminals 141, 142 and 143 each along with the charge transferred. And the primary color signals can be extracted in sequence through the output terminal provided independently.
