Abstract
PURPOSE: To produce a hermetically sealed window having high transparency, by adhesion-sealing a transparent glass disk within a metal ring frame on a fixture and subsequently reheating to a temperature higher than the softening point of the glass while maintaining the assemblage in such a position that the glass surface which was contacted with the fixture before does not contact with the fixture.
CONSTITUTION: A metal ring frame 1 made of iron or the like is mounted on a fixture 5 made of graphite or the like. A transparent glass disk 4' is arranged within the ring frame, heated to a temperature higher than the softening point of the glass, molten, and hermetically adhesion-sealed within the ring frame. In the above treatment, the upper surface 4a of the transparent glass 4 can possess high transparency because the surface is free, but the lower surface is uneven because it was contacted with the fixture. Therefore, the hermetically sealed window is turned over, and reheated to a temperature which is higher than the softening point of the transparent glass by 70W150°C while maintaining the surface 4b which was contacted with the fixture before free. The unevenness of the surface 4b is thus removed, forming a flat surface. Thereby, a hermetically sealed window having high transparency is obtained.
