Abstract

PURPOSE: To make increase in size of denitration catalysts of high active plate form easy and improve strength by holding porous carrier in the core material of a wire netting in plate form by means of a binder of colloidal silica thereby containing the specified amount of SiO2 in the catalyst material.
CONSTITUTION: The slurry composed of porous carrier such as active alumina, titania, etc and a binder such as colloidal silica, etc. is coated on both surfaces of a wire netting such as of carbon steel, stainless steel, etc. and is then dried, thence it is baked, if necessary, whereby the active components are carried in the resultant carrier. The colloidal silica is used as such an amount at which SiO2 is contained at more than 8wt% in the catalyst material. As a result, the SiO2- N(OH)2n which constitutes colloidal silica causes dehydration condensation polymerization to form a three-dimensional mesh structure, causing the catalyst material to be firmly held in the wire netting. Because of this, the catalyst maintains large porosities and show high activity.
