Abstract
PURPOSE: To enable partial plating of plural colors to be readily obtained by coating paint on the portions of the surface of a plating base material which are undesired to be partially plated and plating the material in a plating bath of ordinary temperature.
CONSTITUTION: First, gold plating is done over the entire part of a plating base material. Next, in order to apply white silver plating on a part thereof, paint is coated on the portions not requiring plating and white silver plating is done by means of a palladium plating bath and rhodium plating bath. Next, the material is dipped in a thinner solution to remove the paint. To apply, e.g., copper plating further on this, paint is coated on the portions not requiring copper plating without undergoing the above-mentioned thinner dipping and the material is copper plated in a copper sulfate plating bath, after which the paint is removed. This method is suited for plural color partial plating of personal ornaments, interior decorations, etc.
