Abstract

PURPOSE: To carry out purification of propylene polymer in an industrially advantageous manner, by mixing a specific alcohol with a polymer slurry prepared by (co)polymerizing propylene in liquefied propylene, and subsequently washing the mixture with water.
CONSTITUTION: A purified propylene polymer is obtained by mixing 0.01W0.5 wt%, based on liquefied propylene, of a 3W4C alcohol and optionally, 0.01W 0.5wt%, based on liquefied propylene, of an epoxide with a slurry prepared by homopolymerizing propylene or copolymerizing propylene with another olefin in liquefied propylene by using an active catalyst system having a catalyst efficiency of 7,000g of polymer/g of solid catalyst, and subsequently washing the mixture with water to remove catalyst residues. The preferred alcohol is i-propanol or i-butanol and the preferred epoxide is propylene oxide.
