Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce a high local surface pressure and prevent creation of scratches when not in rotation or during a low speed rotation by a method wherein a concave bearing surface of a bearing member is formed so that the circumference of a relief at the center of the concave bearing surface may not come in contact with a convex bearing surface.

CONSTITUTION: A bearing is composed of an axial member 1 with several spiral grooves 12 which partially make dead ends at their top side and a bearing member 2 which has a semi-spherical concave bearing surface 21 which faces and cooperates with a convex bearing surface 11 and which has a relief 22 at its bottom. Here, the concave bearing surface 21 takes a suitable radial clearance to the convex bearing surface 11 at the neighborhood of the relief 22 on the curved surface facing the neighborhood of the top of the convex bearing surface 11 so that the convex bearing surface 11 does not come in contact with the neighborhood of the relief 22 when the bearing is not in motion. The dimension of the radius clearance is defined by a curved surface of a quadratic curvature which changes steplessly and continuously.
